WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- A 16-year-old boy who police said made an announcement at Walmart ordering all black people in the southern New Jersey store to leave was charged with harassment and bias intimidation, authorities said Saturday.

The boy, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, grabbed one of the courtesy phones at Walmart's Washington Township store Sunday evening and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now," police said.

A top aide to Gov. Paterson faces a "perjury trap" from a state agency looking into the governor's free Yankee tickets - but will answer their questions anyway, his lawyer says.

The Commission on Public Integrity has arranged for David Johnson, the aide at the center of two probes into the governor, to be questioned later this month, said lawyer Oscar Michelen.

A second court martial for Sri Lanka's former army chief and opposition leader Sarath Fonseka has been indefinitely postponed.

Fonseka had been due to appear before a military tribunal on Wednesday over charges he awarded a lucrative arms contract to a firm headed by his son in law.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- A lawyer for a North Carolina man exonerated of a prostitute's murder in a groundbreaking innocence hearing says police now want to test her client's clothing for the victim's DNA.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Raleigh police, attorney Chris Mumma (MOO'muh) grants permission to test the clothing Greg Taylor was wearing when Jacquetta Thomas was slain in September 1991.

Mumma says Taylor wants any doubt about his role in the crime removed.

OTTAWA — Siena Foods Ltd. is facing potential class-action lawsuits, after the province of Ontario confirmed this weekend it is investigating any possible links between listeria-contaminated deli meat and five deaths.

The Regina-based Merchant Law Group said Sunday it is launching class actions "on behalf of all consumers who have purchased or consumed recalled meats produced by Siena Foods."

The lawsuits will allege that Siena Foods was "negligent in the production of listeria contaminated meat products," the national law firm said in a release.

ATLANTA-An attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has hired a private investigator to look into a sexual assault allegation made by a 20-year-old Georgia college student. MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - A high-profile defense attorney hired by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Monday disputed a college student's claim that the two-time Super Bowl winner sexually assaulted her at a Georgia nightclub.

The 20-year-old told police Roethlisberger, who had been out barhopping with friends, assaulted her early Friday. Roethlisberger has not been charged.

"The facts show that there was no criminal activity. No sexual assault occurred," attorney Ed Garland said in a statement Monday. "Ben is completely innocent of any crime."

HARARE (AFP) – Lawyers for a top aide to Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai on Monday told his treason trial he had no case to answer.

"We submit that the facts presented by the state are not sufficient enough to have a conviction against the accused," Beatrice Mtetwa told the Harare High Court.

Roy Bennett, the treasurer of Tsvangirai's party, is accused of plotting to assassinate President Robert Mugabe in 2006 in a conspiracy already dismissed by the courts in an earlier case.

GENEVA-Swiss voters on Sunday soundly rejected a plan to appoint special lawyers for animals that are abused by humans, dealing a blow to advocates who say Switzerland's elaborate animal rights laws aren't being enforced. Official results showed that 70.5 percent of voters cast their ballot against the proposal to extend nationwide a system that has been in place in Zurich since 1992. Some 29.5 percent of voters backed the proposal, with officials putting the turnout at just over 45 percent.

GENEVA - In a referendum cheered by animal rights activists, Swiss voters are deciding whether to appoint special lawyers for animals that have been abused by humans.

If passed, the vote would extend a system already in place in Zurich to all of Switzerland's 26 cantons (states). Antoine F. Goetschel, Europe's only animal lawyer, says approving the proposal would ensure that abused animals are properly represented in court and those who hurt them would receive appropriate punishment.
