COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Patients of a northern Kentucky psychiatrist jailed on a charge he stabbed a woman with a sword have tried to keep appointments with him in jail. Kenton County jail Chief Deputy Scott Colvin said deputies have had to turn away several patients of Douglas Rank, charged last month with first-degree assault in an attack on 32-year-old woman.

Colvin told the Kentucky Enquirer that some patients have asked if they could drop off Rank's prescription pad at the jail so he could write their prescriptions.

COVINGTON, Ky.-Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga pleaded guilty to drunken driving Tuesday and received a suspended sentence.

The rookie linebacker was arrested four days ago after police said he hit a parking meter and two parked cars in northern Kentucky. He was charged with drunken and careless driving, and a court hearing was scheduled for Feb. 25.

He changed his plea to guilty on the drunken-driving charge Tuesday and received a suspended seven-day jail sentence. The careless driving charge was dropped. Maualuga had his driver's license suspended for 90 days and was ordered to participate in an alcohol and drug education program.

Former USC linebacker Rey Maualuga, coming off his rookie season with the Cincinnati Bengals, has been arrested on drunk driving charges in northern Kentucky.

Maualuga was arrested at 3:11 a.m. EST today and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and with careless driving, according to Kenton County Jail records.

According to the Associated Press, Maualuga, 23, was being held without bond and no attorney was listed for him.

CINCINNATI-Police in northern Kentucky have arrested Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga (mow-uh-LOO'-guh) on charges of drunken and careless driving.

Covington police spokesman Spike Jones says Maualuga hit a parking meter and two parked cars early Friday with his 2003 Pontiac. There was minor damage.

The 23-year-old was held about seven hours at the Kenton County jail before being released on his own recognizance.

CINCINNATI-Delta Air Lines will cut more flights at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in February.

Delta said Tuesday that the cuts will eliminate direct service to Montreal, Oklahoma City, Okla., Providence, R.I., Des Moines, Iowa, and the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee.

Delta spokeswoman Kristin Baur says the cuts will not result in employee reductions.

The Atlanta-based company had announced earlier that it would trim 25 flights from Cincinnati's daily schedule in January, eliminating direct service to Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Ga., Tulsa, Okla., and Huntsville, Ala.

CIT Group Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection Sunday after its board of directors approved of a plan to reorganize the giant small business lender.

The plan has also been approved by CIT's creditors. The company has a local office in Lakeside Park, in Northern Kentucky.

"The decision to proceed with our plan of reorganization will allow CIT to continue to provide funding to our small business and middle-market customers, two sectors that remain vitally important to the U.S. economy," CEO Jeffrey Peek said in a statement.

Delta Air Lines Inc.’s service from Cincinnati to Frankfurt and London will be cut as part of an overall reduction in its capacity worldwide, a shift that could force it to further cut employee hours, the carrier said Thursday.

The Atlanta-based airline, which operates a hub the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, will reduce its overall system by 10 percent compared with 2008, due to declining passenger revenue and higher fuel prices.

Higher international demand is behind a spike in gas prices in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky over the past week.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $2.26 in Cincinnati on Monday, compared to $2.03 on the same date last month, according to the American Automobile Association’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. In Covington, the price for a gallon of regular gas jumped to $2.28 from $2.07 a month ago.
