A proposal to ban the export of Atlantic bluefin tuna, which is a sushi mainstay in Japan, has been rejected by a UN wildlife meeting.

Thursday's decision occurred after Japan, Canada and many poor nations opposed the measure on the grounds it would devastate fishing economies.

Monaco tabled the plan at the meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- OSI Pharmaceuticals rejected a $3.5-billion takeover bid from Astellas Pharma Inc., telling shareholders Monday the offer was too low.

Astellas has attempted to acquire OSI for more than a year and, after repeated rejections, the Japanese company filed suit to prevent the OSI's board from interfering and made a hostile bid earlier this month.

On Monday, OSI Chairman Robert Ingram said the offer "does not fully reflect OSI's fundamental, intrinsic value."

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, General Motors is taking a second look at two previous offers for Hummer after the deal to sell the ailing sports utility brand finally succumbed to a slow death yesterday.

The WSJ doesn't divulge which companies are in the offing to purchase Hummer, only saying that GM had rejected offers from the two firms last year.

Apple reportedly has a new policy for its iPhone app store in which any application with "overtly sexual content" will be removed from the App Store, according to an e-mail obtained by TechCrunch. But just like countless previous times, this latest tweak to Apple's app rejection policy will have app developers scratching their heads trying to figure out what's going on.

One app that has been removed from iTunes, called Wobble iBoobs, lets you take a selected image of a bikini model, add "wobble zones" to the photo, and then make those parts of the image move when you shake your iPhone.

The original release of SlingPlayer Mobile [iTunes link] was WiFi only, and was one of the great disappointments of the whole iPhone experience. VIENNA (Reuters) - A proposal for Iran to send most of its enriched uranium abroad to allay fears it will be used to make atom bombs remains on the table, the U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Wednesday, despite Tehran's rejection of key terms.

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co's U.S. factory workers moved a step closer Friday to delivering a landslide rejection of proposed concessions while the United Auto Workers leadership said the union would not return to talks with the automaker until 2011.

Workers at Ford's truck assembly plant near the automaker's Dearborn, Michigan headquarters voted 93 percent to reject the deal, adding to a growing number of rank-and-file workers lining up against the proposed contract changes.

At long last, AT&T has opened up the American iPhone to VoIP calls over its 3G wireless network.

Previously, the US wireless giant had only allowed iPhone VoIP via WiFi net connections.

According to an August 21 letter to the FCC, AT&T had not allowed 3G VoIP on the iPhone at least in part because it didn't want to lose revenue to such services as eBay's Skype.

The telco's reversal comes as it faces two FCC investigations related to the iPhone: one over Apple's rejection of Google's Voice app, and another over handset exclusivity deals.

Cadbury PLC's quick rejection of Kraft Foods Inc.'s surprise £10.2 billion ($16.73 billion) takeover offer sets the stage for a drawn-out battle that could dramatically reorder the global candy market.

LONDON — Kraft Foods said Monday it would pursue a $16.7 billion takeover of the British chocolate maker Cadbury even after the rival rejected the offer, saying it was too low.

Kraft said it still hoped to clinch a deal, which it called "compelling" and which would create a global food giant with $50 billion in revenue. But Cadbury said Monday that it reviewed Kraft's proposal with its advisers and rejected the offer because it "fundamentally undervalues the group and its prospects."
