The Federal Trade Commission said Monday that it has uncovered widespread data breaches at companies, schools and local governments whose employees are swapping music, software and movie files over the Internet.

The consumer protection agency said it sent nearly 100 letters to organizations where information on customers and employees -- including health and financial data and Social Security and driver's license numbers -- leaked through peer-to-peer Web services. It warned that the security breaches could lead to identity fraud or theft, and it recommended that the groups review their policies and inform affected users.

(CNN) -- A woman jumped a barrier at the start of Christmas Eve Mass at St. Peter's Basilica and knocked down the pope, briefly disrupting ceremonies.

Screams erupted from onlooking worshippers when the woman ran toward Pope Benedict XVI and grabbed onto his vestments as he walked down the main aisle of the church, video footage showed.

He was quickly helped to his feet by his aides -- prompting cheers from the crowd -- and the service was resumed, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told CNN.

Buckingham Palace has suspended a chauffeur who allegedly gave undercover reporters access to sensitive areas of the building.

The incident appears to be the latest of a number of royal security breaches.

This is not the first time security has been breached at the palace.

:: The most serious breach came in March 1982 when Michael Fagan broke into the Queen's bedroom at the palace. She woke to find him sitting on her bed.

:: A year earlier, Marcus Sarjeant, 17, fired six blank shots at the Queen at the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

:: Stephen Goulding was jailed for three months after breaking into palace grounds in 1990. He claimed he was Prince Andrew Windsor and declared the Queen was his "mum".

Samsung Electronics on Thursday said it is boosting security on solid-state drives by bundling data encryption software with SSDs it ships.

The company is bundling software from Wave Systems' Embassy management software to encrypt data on its SSDs with storage ranging from 64GB and 256GB.

The drives with encryption software will be available from PC makers, Samsung said in a statement. Coinciding with Samsung's announcement, Dell said it would offer the self-encrypting SSDs with its Latitude line of laptops in the upcoming months.
