Corey Haim died in Los Angeles in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and while an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death, the LAPD suspects an accidental drug overdose.

According to the coroner, four prescription drug bottles were found in his North Hollywood apartment but there was no sign of illegal drugs.

A former friend of Haim, producer Nathan Folks, told Pop Tarts that despite the child star's long battle with illicit drugs, to his knowledge Haim no longer did illegal drugs, but may have developed a fixation on prescription medication.

Simon Monjack tells UsMagazine.com it wasn't easy for him to read his late wife Brittany Murphy's final autopsy report, which was released Thursday.

He says he and the actress' mother Sharon "both sobbed and sobbed. I haven't gotten out of bed yet. I pulled the report away from Sharon because I thought I was going to have to sedate her."

Despite the anguish, he tells Us he found "solace" in the report because it reaffirmed what he had been insisting all along - that his wife never abused illegal drugs. (The report stated that she had "elevated levels" of Vicodin and drugs from over-the-counter cold medicine in her system.)

For 22-year-old Jacob Rosenberg, life without his daily dose of Vicodin wouldn't be much of a life at all.

"Before I began taking narcotics two years ago, I would spend my days in bed," said Rosenberg, who has suffered from fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis for five years, and chronic pain for 10. "I was in college and I wasn't capable of doing anything – go to classes or go out."

"But since I've been on Vicodin my pain is 80 percent diminished," said Rosenberg. "It gives me the ability to be a normal person."

Adelphi, Md. -- Government experts called for sweeping safety restrictions Tuesday on the most widely used painkiller, including reducing the maximum dose of Tylenol and eliminating prescription drugs such as Vicodin and Percocet.

The Food and Drug Administration assembled 37 experts to recommend ways to reduce deadly overdoses with acetaminophen, the leading cause of liver failure in the U.S., which sends 56,000 people to the emergency room annually. About 200 die each year.
