This list of U.S. federal prisons lists many of the institutions managed by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons ("BOP"), a component of the U.S. Department of Justice ("DoJ").

The BOP divides facilities into various security levels ranging from ADX Maximum Security (Super Max), High, Medium, Low, Minimum, and Community Corrections Centers. Examples are the ADX facility in Florence, Colorado; High security such as Lewisburg and Atlanta, and numerous other lower level facilities throughout the United States. A list of all the various facilities within the BOP system is at http://bop.gov.

Although the more common BOP facilities mentioned in the media are the High and Medium, the minimum-security facilities, commonly referred to as Federal Prison Camps, are usually the most understood.
